The inaugural year (2024) for the Apopka Hometown Heroes Banner Project was a great success with 32 banners proudly displayed along Main Street during October and November of 2024.
 
VFW Post 10147 and the City of Apopka worked together in 2025 to expand the project and offer the ability for more residents/businesses to recognize local veterans who have served in the United States military.  ten (10) additional banners were added in 2025.
 
The 2024 banners will be displayed again this year and more locations have been identified along Main Street and Park Avenue to display additional banners in 2025.
 
Each 2026 banner (24” x 60”) will be personalized with the veteran’s name and branch of service and be displayed along Main Street or Park Avenue in Apopka from mid-October to mid-November for two consecutive years.  At the end of the second year, the 2025 banner will be given to the sponsor or can be renewed for additional years for a donation of $25 per year.
